No, you instead stood around in Abyssea doing nothing to get EXP.

Like I said, after Abyssea there was no grind.

sorry to disappoint you, but I do work my butt through Gusgen, Crawler's Nest, & Botaunieux till lvl 80 before I step into Abyssea since there's no point swinging my weapon and barely hits. And it's actually more challenging after trusts introduced since xp parties start to dies, so I have to work extra on other zones such as Lower Delkfutt, Altepa desert, Boyahda, & Gustav which is actually one of great place to cap my skills too. I unsubbed mid of Adoulin becoz FF14 2.0 starts & lacking stamina to play 2 MMO, so I have no idea how xp farm beyond that point though.

DNC is currently top DD. RUN is currently preferred endgame(ilv 145+ content) tank job because of gambit/rayke. Tons of endgame LS out there actively recruit RUN, on the other hand they don't recruit PLD as much.

Sometimes certain jobs get shout more often, that doesn't mean the other jobs are "behind". Some jobs aren't being shouted because people don't know about them, that's all. Tons of jobs that's not in shout can compete with current bandwagon job and do better.

I'd say currently all jobs are fairly balanced right now.....all jobs except MNK. MNK being the bandwagon job in 2013 don't justify MNK mathematically weaker than other DD.

Monk is not the same as blue mage. Blue Mage is far superior in durability and melee vs a Mnk, War, Drk, Sam, Drg, etc. The data between a Mnk and a Blu is 100% wrong. The only time a monk ever win in damage is because a Blue Mage let you win by not trying to out damage them. At this point Drg and Dark Knight already make Mnk look bad in the damage department.

As a Blue Mage that max out their job points at 2100 they are capable of solo with trust on high tier mission battle avatar Leviathan at very difficult. Some people have kill it under 3 minute. I have tried it myself and was only able to kill it under 10 minute with my trust at very difficult.

It is impossible for a Mnk, Drg, War, Drk, Sam to solo with their trust against avatar leviathan at very difficult. If a blue mage with trust clear a content in 10 minute avatar at very difficult than a Mnk, War, Drk, Sam should be able to kill it in 15 or 20 minute without problem but the truth hurt because a lot of times those job end up dead with their trust.

I think the dev team have done a good job in august update 2016 to the game and it got more people playing FFXI again for now but for how long until they are gone again? =) I do not understand why high tier mission at very difficult level 129 is more tougher than solo Reisenjima S1 NM level 129?

Akihiko Matsui If you have time please test out Mnk weapon skill compare it to a Blue Mage. I'm sure other DD need testing too so all damage is fair with melee job. I don't understand how shijin spiral weapon skill does 4k to 6k on Aello while savage blade at 3000 tp does over 21,000 maybe the weapon skill shijin spiral just really suck so bad and it was no different on Uptala NM. Next worse weapon skill in the game is exenterator dagger weapon skills.

I agree. Monk is currently in the 'lol' position that drg and pup used to enjoy. They are so pathetically weak that I am not even sure how to fix the job. Surely, giving Monk "Accuracy Bonus V" and decent weapon skills would help but it doesn't fix the actual problem: Mnk, Drk, Drg, Sam and War: are so pure as DD that they can't do anything else. This is an inhering problem of FFXI when it comes to job balance and party dynamics. Jobs are too specialized and it is really hard to 'share' positions without being bold a break something with the job dynamics.

You can see that there are 4 positions in FFXI: Healer, Tank, DD and Support. Jobs that can do only 1 thing really well tend to be the bangwagon of the month while jack-of-all-trait jobs tend to stay somewhere in the middle - I will get this guy if I can't get the specialists.

Attempts to change this dynamic of DD, Support, Healer and Tank were half-baked or just didn't turn out well. Ninja as evasion tank, War as a meat tank, Rdm as a front line DD, Dnc as a healer/tank/DD...etc.

What I would suggest is to allow jobs to actually go into a full blown "Stance" job abilities that can actually fulfill the a particular job into a position. Every job needs to be able to fulfill 2-3 of the 4 roles. Sch worked out well as a healer but Whm got threaten because Sch was stealing the only role Whm had: Healer. If Whm could function well as a support buff job with a 'Stance' job ability then there wouldn't be a problem.

However, SE needs to prevent certain amount of abuse with the "Stance" and should not be afraid to buff a job to match or even slightly stronger than others. You don't want a WAR to switch from attacking into tanking mode in a flash - that would defeat the purpose. I would like to see Warrior with extremely strong defense that can block/parry most attacks similar to a Pld but unable to deliver smashing damage. Or perhaps a WHM with full-on I can cure myself from everything and just tank everything as long as his MP holds. I would love to see a Monk curing and maybe buffing a party like a Bard does with his Chi abilities but that would make him unable to attack.

I've often wondered if SE intends for MNK to be a tank instead of a DD. Quite a few of their JP categories and almost every last one of their job exclusive gifts focus on the tanking aspect. That said... it only really excels at tanking standard auto-attack damage at the moment. TP moves are only reduced by the ever unreliable Guard skill, and magic isn't negated at all. On top of that, they lack the strong snap aggro and spell buffs that other tanks have. Subjobs can fix a little bit of these issues, but I do think the job itself needs a bit more tanking ability of its own to actually be a viable option these days.

Going off of the previous post, I would like to see Counterstance greatly improved. For starters, the downside NEEDS to be something that doesn't affect a tank. The fact that your tank stance (and "dps" stance back when footwork was a stance) also greatly detriment the same role they're supposed to buff has always been the biggest issue with MNK's stances compared to other ones. Perhaps lower crit rate and negate kick attacks, and give increased enmity and guard on top of counterstance's increased counter rate? Something along those lines?
