    "Freshly Picked Vana'diel 15" Digest

    Greetings,

To coincide with the January version update, Producer Akihiko Matsui held another "Freshly Picked Vana'diel" to go over some of the new content and discuss other topics pertinent to adventuring. Below is a digest of what was discussed.

    Seekers of Adoulin Quests

In the January version update we’ve added three new quests related to Seekers of Adoulin.
    • “No Mercy for the Wicked” and “Mistress of Ceremonies”
Even Ingrid, the Merciless One, has a past filled with heartbreak and sorrow.
Will she be able to overcome the spirits that haunt her?
    • “The Curious Case of Melvien”
The smallest seeds sewed by the former minister of fianance turned into a canopy covering the nation. Will the trees bear fruit of truth or of deceit?

“No Mercy for the Wicked” and “Mistress of Ceremonies” are both about Ingrid, and they are somewhat sad stories. “The Curious Case of Melvien” was also created as an elaborate quest.

    Job Adjustments

In the January version update we made adjustments to puppetmaster.
    • Puppetmaster
The Soulsoother C-1000 head will now cast Protectra and Shellra, and the Stormwaker Y-700 head will now cast Protect and Shell on the automaton.

We’ve also made adjustments to certain attachments that were not eliciting effects on monsters that were added after Seekers of Adoulin. We are planning to add high-tier versions of attachments in the February version update, and the adjustments made in the January version update were made ahead of time as preparation. We’re looking forward to hearing your feedback.

    Unity Wanted NMs

We added 5 new NMs for Unity Wanted. This time around we made some slightly different mechanics for these NMs, such as King Uropygid’s ability to heal and grow stronger depending on the weather. To make up for this strength, we’ve also added weaknesses. Steamy Samantha’s name is written differently in the objective than what is shown when you actually spawn her, but you’ll understand the reason when you fight her.

We’ve carefully created each NM with really neat aspects, so we’d like everyone to search for each NM’s special characteristics and beat them.

*The video shows how to equip two linkshells and how to send a tell to a player from the chat window.

We’ve been receiving requests asking to make it possible to equip another linkshell without having to unequip your main linkshell, especially for cases where you use different linkshells for different activities. To answer these requests, we’ve added a system that allows you to equip two linkshells at the same time.

There were even a lot of comments from within the development team in support of expanding chat features when we were discussing the linkshell 2 feature, and we decided to implement this system.

In regards to expanded chat window features, by selecting a player from the full screen mode and selecting “Tell,” a special icon will be displayed in the chat window. When recruiting members for parties you’ll be able to verify who you sent a tell to, so please be sure to put this to good use.

For the next version update we’re working on the following content.
    • New Alluvion Skirmishes
We’ll be adding new Alluvion skirmishes that take place in Yorcia Weald. You’ll be able to add a third arcane glyptic to weapons and we’ll also be preparing new armor sets. The rewards will be stronger, but naturally the mechanics will also be enhanced, so please look forward to it!
    • New Job Point Categories
We’ll be adding two new job point categories for each job.
    • Additional Gifts
We’ll be adding high-tier elemental magic that can be learned through Gifts. There will also be useful Gifts for those jobs that do not utilize magic.
    • Unity Chat Cap Increase
As we have been using the linkshell system for Unity chat, the current cap is 64 players, but we will be making adjustments to increase this number.
    • Additional Mog Garden Elements
*The video shows a new section for monster rearing.
In the February version update we will be increasing the monster rearing rank and also introducing a new area for monster rearing where you’ll be able to raise new kinds of monsters.

The January version update was a small-scale update, but the February version update is a large-scale one that will add a sizeable amount of content to the game.

All of the teams will be working hard together in 2015 on FINAL FANTASY XI, and I hope you all have a great year.

See you all in the next Freshly Picked Vana’diel!
