After requesting "Wide words on Records of Eminence" from one of the guides (emphasis mine):I believe the intent was that they should be saying "rewarded with experience points."
"You will be rewarded with gil and sparks of eminence, which serve the same function as points, notes, credits, and other such methods of quantifying one's greatness."
I also note there's no mention of capacity points, but that's less of an issue than confusing EXP with gil.

They probably intended to include nominal gil rewards, changed their mind, and forgot to change the text back.
