    FFXI Chemist (CHE) Overview Concept

Hello Everyone, so now that Seekers of Adoulin has launched many of us were surprised to actually see new jobs being added with the expansion pack, and while there are many jobs already in the game one of the things that makes this game flourish is the diverse gameplay that each job brings into the mix so I wanted to begin a framework concept. This suggestion does have some contradictions with some items and potential valves in the game. Another issue is the pricing of the medication which I think it should be adjusted for some meds like potions, ethers, and status effect removal meds.

    Chemist

Apothecaries who can mix powerful concoctions together and gain twice the benefits when drinking potions and ethers, The Chemist (CHE) are battleforged alchemists that use their advance knowledge in medicine to aid their allies in combat. Unlike white mages that use magic to aid their comrades the Chemist relies on common items such as potions and phoenix downs; however, these medics bring more to the table than just plain support these fighters are also fully capable of using cannons and explosives to bring their enemies down quickly. These apothecaries come from the Northern Regions of Rhazowa where for many years the government of the continent has been developing new forms of combat such as the advance usage of chemical warfare against the vicious tribes of the barbarian ogres.

    Job Concepts

Let me start off by saying that the chemist main role is healing and while they do have some access to damage dealing, they are more common to white mages in the damage category. Items have always been a part of vana’diel but they have never been so useful because of how expensive it is to use medication and the limitations that come with using these meds, so basically what the chemist does is overcome these limitations and expand what these items do to create brand new effects; unlike a Dancer that heals with TP or a White Mage that heals using MP the Chemist uses a similar concept to the Ninja job by using items to recover their allies to fighting conditions. And while they certainly are great healers the Chemist is capable of using cannons and thrown weaponry to give the party that little extra edge.

    Chemistry Satchel

Unlike the other jobs in vana’diel chemist have a very high demand for space when it comes to using medication, so as a way to make it less of a hindrance for those that play chemist or use it as a subjob these tactical medics have a special bag called a Chemistry Satchel, the Chemistry Satchel is basically a bag that shows all of the concoctions that a chemist can put into it, and the best part about this bag is that it can hold 999 vials of the same concoction freeing up the chemist worry about running out of items during an event or party; however there are some downsides to this as well so here is a basic outline of how this feature works.

    Advantages:
    1. This bag is easily accessed by going into your item menu and choosing Chemistry Satchel instead of items.
    2. You can put up to 999 of each medication into this job specific satchel.
    3. You can transfer items from caskets and similar temporary items into this satchel.
    4. You don’t have to worry as much about running out of items during a party or event.
    5. You can save a great amount of space by not having to worry carry all this medication in your regular bag.
    6. Using items inside your Chemistry Satchel gives you throwing skill-ups.

    Disadvantages:
    1. You can only put medication into this inventory that can be used by the chemist “Use” abilities, and the “Use abilities do not function unless the items are inside the Chemistry Satchel.
    2. Whenever you add any medication into the Chemistry Satchel you cannot remove the items, due to temporary items being transferable into the satchel.
    3. Items can only be transferred to a Chemistry Satchel when in a mog house, by talking to your moogle and trading items to your moogle in the submenu that opens.
    4. Items inside your Chemistry Satchel are adjusted to function in a different way from normally for example, many traits and abilities adjust the potency of items inside the Chemistry Satchel, and some potions are stronger or weaker inside the Satchel.
    5. Items inside the Chemistry Satchel cannot be used normally they require the usage of abilities, for example you can’t go and select a potion, you must use either “Sip” or “Use: Recovery” to access the potion. [/HB]

–Description: Allows the user to use situational items on the party members.
-Recast Time: Depends on the potion used in the situational section.

    6. Mix
    -Level 50
-Description: Allows the user to combine two items from different categories to create powerful effects.
    -Recast Time: 15 Minutes
-Duration: Depends on the potion used by mixing.
-Note: #1: When mixing, a submenu opens with the “Use” abilities and you must pick one “use” ability and choose a potion, then it reopens again and you must pick another potion to create a mixture effect.
-Note #2: The effects received from mixing are instant and have no casting time.
-Note #3: While there are many powerful effects usually those have a very short duration of around 30 seconds to 1 minute

    7. Dispensary
    -Level 60
-Description: The next item consuming ability recycles the items used.
    -Recast Time: 15 Minutes
-Duration: 1 minute to wear off; or instant if used
-Notes: Great way to conserve your expensive items; however, the timer is to not promote it as a way to not use the items.

    Group 1 Merits

    1. Mixing Recast:
    -Level 75 (Merit)
-Description: Each point added into this enhancement decreases the recast time of the “Mix” ability by 1 minute to a minimum recast time of 10 minutes.

    2. Dispensary Recast:
    -Level 75 (Merit)
-Description: Each point added into this enhancement decreases the recast time of the “Dispensary” ability by 1 minute to a minimum recast time of 10 minutes.

    3. Recycle Effect:
    -Level 75 (Merit)
-Description: Each point added into this enhancement increases the chances of you preserving your items and ammo by 3% to a maximum of 15%.

    4. Recovery Recast:
    -Level 75 (Merit)
-Description: Each point added into this enhancement decreases the recast time for all the concoctions of the “Use: Recovery” ability by 2% for a maximum of 10%.

    Group 2 Merits

    1. Multilixir
    -Level 75 (Merit) (Ability)
-Description: Allows you to a concoction from a category that is currently resetting; however, the recast of the new potion used is added to the timer.
-Recast Time: 5 minutes (Each additional point lowers the recast by 1 minute to a minimum of 1 minute recast.)
-Duration: Depends on the type of concoction used.
-Note #1: Basically this is a charge based system with an ability instead of an actual timer due to the way that the abilities for chemist work, let say you use a ether and recast timer for “Use: Recovery” resets to 15 seconds, but a party member just entered red HP what could you do? Well you pop on you the Multilixir ability allowing you to enter the category and use a Hi-potion; however, now the recast for the category is 30 seconds instead of 15 because Hi-potion also has a recast of 15 seconds.
-Note #2: This ability does not work with the “Mix” ability.

    2. Sip
    -Level 75 (Merit) (Ability)
-Description: Opens a list with all of your items, allowing you to use one on yourself without consuming the item; however the item used has a weaker effect.
-Recast Time: 5 minutes (Each additional point lowers the recast by 1 minute to a minimum of 1 minute recast.)
-Duration: Depends on the type of concoction used.
-Note #1: Unlike normal circumstances where a chemist would consume an item when used, the chemist opens his/hers chemistry bag and can choose any potion to use on themselves without actually consuming it, not matter how many times its used even though the name is saying that they are taking a sip.
-Note #2: The effect of the item used on “Sip” is 50% weaker than if it were to be used normally.

    3. Synthesis
    -Level 75 (Merit) (Ability)
-Description: Allows you to choose two different concoctions from the same “Use” category to combine the effects, the recast is determined by the highest recast item used.
-Recast Time: 10 minutes (Each additional point lowers the recast by 1 minute to a minimum of 5 minutes recast.)
-Duration: Depends on the effect of both items.
-Note #1: Basically allows you to use 2 items at the same time without resetting the timer too high, for example you can synthesis a ether and a potion allowing you to use both items at the same time and only applying the recast time of the ether since it’s the highest recast item.

    4. Circulation
    -Level 75 (Merit) (Ability)
-Description: The next item used from the “Use” abilities is spread to all party members within range; however, the recast timer is doubled and everyone gets a medicated effect for 1 minute, preventing the chemist from using items.
-Recast Time: 15 minutes (Each additional point lowers the recast by 1 minute to a minimum of 10 minutes recast.)
-Duration: Depends on the effect of the item used.

    5. Stabilization
    -Level 75 (Merit) (Ability)
-Description: Allows the chemist to overwrite the medicated effect from all party members within range.
-Recast Time: 15 minutes (Each additional point lowers the recast by 1 minute to a minimum of 10 minutes recast.)
    -Duration: Instant
-Note # 1: Almost nothing of what a chemist can do gives the medicated effect; this ability is basically for items that are not used outside of the chemist inventory, or as a cure for the circulation ability.
