This is not an announcement. This is only a hypothetical scenario.
Change of plans. SoA is not a new expansion - it's a drawn-out end-of-days world event. All servers will be shut down at the end of next year. SE will not release the server source code or license it to another provider... the game is just gone.
Would you play next year? For how long? Would you try to complete certain content? Would you even start on a relic or mythic (if you haven't already) knowing it has no use come New Year's Day?
The underlying question is - would you try to get in as much FFXI as you could, or would you 'cut your loses', so to speak, and move on? I'm interested to hear other people's position on this, as I sometimes think I keep playing this game simply because I know one day I won't be able to and I'll miss it. Thoughts?
