    Show the Capes!

    Hello.
With all the new possibilities that SE has recently stumbled upon, I was wondering if it would be systematically possible to finally have a graphic for the back pieces that we wear? Of course there will be some, if not many who would rather not have this feature, but for those that would, you could have the same system that is currently in place for the /displayhead command. It would be totally cosmetic (and a lot of work to develop!), but that seems to be whats in today.

Since day one of my adventuring, I always wanted this little feature. I understood why it wasn't in place and I was content with that. But today, it seems much more is possible and I think it would be pretty cool. Thanks for reading.

Fool! Don't you know capes are outlawed? There have been... incidents... involving airship rotors and capes. Eye witnesses of those incidents still haven't recovered, still waking up in sweat during the night. It was... bad.

    This.

I hate capes in MMOs. They always look awful and even if I can turn mine off, I'm not able to turn off everyone else's so it's just a miserable ordeal.

They could make the capes optional like they recently did to headgear.

I suspect it isn't a matter of them being concerned about it being optional. It looks like the engine wouldn't be able to handle capes very well. Look at games that cape out at the same time as FFXI, if they bother with capes at all, they look horrible. Even on more modern games, capes tend to look awful because they still can't get them to move right.

Even if the engine can handle it, it isn't just a matter of making models and adding a toggle. The cape would have to be animated for every single animation and separately for every single race, in the game. Even if they want to leave it mostly static, they have to do that to avoid clipping every time the character moves. So, best case scenario, it's a huge amount of work for very little gain.

i recently did the Sandy missions and everytime the Princess showed up with her cape it would either drop from the ceiling when she first showed up, or parts of her would be poking through it. think 1 time it got super twisted too. looked like something out of a Alpha test. this is also why im against Sheathes for now. fix the gear thats in the game already. hate when stuff pokes through other gear.
