It's unlikely that this will change. If your pet dies before the mob that you sent it to attack is dead, that mob will come after you. If the other mobs that linked are still within their normal spawn area they won't de-pop, so they will link to the TE when it comes after you.

What if the Hokey-Kokey really IS what it's all about!?

I think its more of the situation where a player sends a pet after mob A, and links mob B and C and D, then upon pet death, the entire swarm bum-rushes the master, rather than just the intended target. In fairness, logically thats how it should work if any mob rushes the master at all. But this is balance/mechanic concerns, not logical ones.

While we are on the topic of pet fixes, any chance smn can be added/made to not become visible when using assault, similar to beastmasters ordering their pets to fight? I always found it strange their pets could go off without endangering them while a summoner instantly becomes visible and is forced to try to reapply invisible.

No, that's not the case Crimson. In the situation you're describing, the added monsters instantly relink, this is present in BCNMs and whatnot. The situation that this covers is when you've done nothing to gain enmity on a mob, but your party/alliance has aggroed something, you release, and the mobs come after you. Like people have said, this is present in supertanking fights. This includes things like einherjar (if you're mass pulling mobs), Qilin, etc. The point is that currently, you're releasing your pet, which is causing mobs to attack you.

Right, for example this was a problem in the island voidwatch fish fight where a tank would hold all the pets and the rest of the alliance would kill the main boss. The SMN in party could not act on the main boss at all without risk of the pets coming at the smn once their pet died or was released, even though they never acted on the pets and only the tank should have any kind of enmity.

Wow, I wonder if the one where a bst pet seems to randomly run off and fight another mob is related to this.
its mostly seen in abyssea... like in attohwa, you finish killing the skeleton NM, then pet runs off to fight a normal skeleton mob which was not in any fight before.
