This has changed somewhat recently however. The helixes, a part of what makes sch unique (even if they're a bit lackluster in PvP), are now useable in 60 cap when they weren't before. PUP got Deus-ex Automata, which meant that people gang-raping your automaton wouldn't cripple you for a third of the match. SMN is still a problem though. pretty much the only reason I would take it to 60cap would be for astral flow.

    I agree with your opinion that a multitude of jobs perform better in uncap as opposed to 60 cap

    I recently played a small(6v6) level 60 cap match as SMN/BLU. I felt the job combination to be fairly busy, ranging from support :ward BP(noctoshield/earthern ward etc) to :rage BP(IV spells, thunderspark etc) all while juggling support job abilities. I likewise doubled up as a very effective damage sponge, which was incredibly exciting lol. However, you're absolutely right, a summoner in an uncap evironment has a multitude of additional toys for the occasion - and consequently astral flow would just be icing on the cake.

    The addition where BPs dont use up your timer when out of range really helped a lot, now we just need the "don't use up BP timer when target dies before BP goes off" feature.

    PUP has also improved a lot in lower level PvP, but it's still at a bit of disadvantage because you have literally no melee gear until lv70+ (though with some practice, I can keep up with the other players, just not usually a top scorer) and before PUP's HTH skill cap increase, they didn't have access to a weapon skill worth using. Not that it's any real measure of performance, but I have a very strong record 99PUP 1v1 against many other jobs. And when I think about it, it makes me really feel like DRG should have a deus ex wyverna, even though the wyvern is not as critical to the job as the automaton is to PUP. When I duel, if they target my pet, I can just call it a second time after they switch back to me and usually get a spell off (if mage frame) or take down his shadows for a WS (if melee). The biggest challenge in a real match with PUP and DRG is their pets are much more squishy than avatars and call beast pets, so you have to be really careful with them to not give out an easy gate breach even while never dying yourself.

    I really hope that when PvP comes to FFXIV that it's not thrown to the wind by the team as Ballista was.
