BLM's one of my tertiary jobs, so its gear is hardly perfect, but with +3 dark staff and cosmos/beyond/minikin, it hovers around 4900 with my gear, a few hundred more with Ascetic's up. On the same targets, with a +3 ice staff, Blizz V would do a little less with the same atma.
I wouldn't really recommend its use outside of Abyssea due the MP cost unless you're fighting things you can also Aspir spam or are constantly being fed temps in VW. Even then, it's got a hefty recast.
Comet was never more threatening than a T5 Nuke from NMs, why should it be more powerful from players?
Outside dynamis numbers would be a lot more meaningful.BLM's one of my tertiary jobs, so its gear is hardly perfect, but with +3 dark staff and cosmos/beyond/minikin, it hovers around 4900 with my gear
Seriha was listing atmas, so that was in Abyssea, not Dynamis (wrong alternate dimension).
I don't usually log all the numbers of my damage (though I'll never forget that one time I got a 5020 damage Ascetic's Fury against a pot in Abyssea Grauberg), but with Atma of Beyond, Minikin Monstrosity, and Ultimate, I noticed that Comet usually did about as much damage as Blizzard V.
It's simply another tool, probably meant to be the equivalent of a dark damage AM II or something. Not every new spell you guys get HAS to be the penultimate strongest spell in your list just like how not every WS that every melee learns is stronger than the old ones.
