I am sick of this Goblin. Every day, I see this goblin, with the ever so helpful message of;

The servers are currently under maintenance.

I, and I'm sure there is at least one other person, would like to know if the CRS is ever going to come back up. I'm not going to ask when it is coming back, as that seems to get no response, judging from the single post threads dotted around about it. I have checked the CRS, every day, since it originally went down. I check the forums twice a week on average to see if there has been any change, yet this seems to have become a forgotten topic. It's been months.. And I want to come back to Vana'diel, you have no idea how much I do. But that infernal goblin seems hellbent on stopping me.

Square Enix.. The ball is in your court. Can I get an answer, at least, something to show you are aware there are people that want to come back to Vana'diel, but are currently unable to.

The only reason it's down and I don't know this for a fact but I'm pretty sure I'm right, the only reason it's down is because SE neutered POL's ability to do anything anymore and that it won't come back up until they implement the final payment methods and finish forcing people to transfer their accounts. That's just my guess and don't ask me why it would ever keep this service down. It's SE. I gave up trying to figure them out a very long time ago.

Or if it fancies you, you could consider the conspiracy theory that they are trying to get you to play FFXIV instead. It has a V on the end. It's newer and better!

Just seems like they are taking their sweet time about it..

And I tried FFXIV.. I'm not too sure about the better part, but that's just me.

I just called them and they said it's been down since March.
He also couldn't tell me anything about this or when it's going to be back.

Hopefully Square Enix responds to this.

isn't the CRS only needed if you quit like years ago? I've had a mule that was inactive for the better part of a year and I can still just reactivate it at any time from my account options. they don't seem to delete characters anymore.

It's actually meant for characters that have been deleted. The ones you can't use the usual reactivate method.
And it's always better they respond sooner than later.

I wonder if this is true about the billing details. Although, I was under the impression they had everyone in some form or fashion transferred already.

Yeah, probably so. Still wish they would say something as it has been since March.

I see your point, but it would be nice to at least be told either "It's not coming back, sorry." or "It'll be up eventually." I mean, there has been plenty of time to discuss it's fate after all. Maybe if I keep shamelessly bumping this it'll get a response.. =O

If you did deactivate your account properly (go to contents and deactivate them during a billing cycle) the system will "park" your account and nothing happens. Originally (and this is what is written on the original documentation for this game) contents would be deleted after three months of inactivity. You would be able to use the FFXI code again to reactivate the game but would need to start the character from scratch.

Then sometime in 2004 they changed it to how it is now: You can deactivate and it will be left alone.

Now if you have invalid billing information and SE tried to charge you, you canceled the *whole* account (there was an option for that on the old Service and Support page for POL) then there is an countdown of three months before the account is completely removed.

After the account is deleted and removed from the database it's impossible to log in it through POL Viewer. And that's what this server is meant for.
