    New Ranger Trait ~ "Recover ammo" tier I~IV

    How about a trait which allows a Ranger to recover spent ammo...

    ...either a percentage chance of recovery based on tiers..for ex. Tier1-2%~tierIV-10%?

    ...or a recovery chance which based on tier would give back "damaged" arrows. For example, iron arrow> tierI- iron arrow-3~ tier IV iron arrow?

    Is this already a merit? I didn't even bother checking?

    As stated, this exists. It is called Recycle, and Ranger can merit (5% per merit, 5 merits, total of 25% from merits).

    Then you have gear. I believe the RNG Relic hat has somewhere around a 20~30% chance of activation. You can also get the Frugal Cape (Back, 23 for a ton of jobs, unspecified amount) or Libeccio Mantle (Back, 80 THF/RNG/COR, 5%), Paddock Trousers or Entois Trousers (Legs, RNG/COR, both unspecified amounts).

    Assuming the best gear, you can get a rather high amount, although probably not as high as Ninja Tool Expertise can go. Still, that's money in the bank. Perhaps you'd be interested in more Recycle gear?

    VZX, did you take a break and recently return to FFXI? I sware you quit when I used to post at allakhazam 2-3 years ago, but seen you crawling out of the woodwork on Bg/here. Also never knew you were on my server

    I like this idea. However, I wish this is what scavenger actually did instead of giving us low lvl ammo and crafting materials that don't help while fighting.

    updating scavenge to be combat effective would be much more useful. anyone else feel scavenge in it's current form would be more at home on thf?

    I had some ideas about scavanger posted in another thread

    • Example: 5% Chance to dig up an ammo more powerful than that available on the AH. 20% chance to dig up ammo on par with the AH. 50% Chance ammo slightly worse than AH. 25% chance to dig up Rusty/Crude ammo.

    These changes would:
    Allow Rangers (And Corsairs with Ranger leveled) the oppertunity to have more ammunition without the trouble of AH supply and difficult crafts/cost.
    Allow them access to specialist ammunition, such as ammo with specific stats or additional affects, that wouldn't otherwise be available.
    Make scavange a useful ability that directly helps the job.

    These changes would not:
    Allow players to abuse the ability to make gil.
    Negate the need to purchase ammo on the auction house.

    The success rate of the ability would need to be balanced so that Rangers are still required to buy or craft ammunition, but will be able to use a mix of both bought ammo and scavanged ammo.

    This would relieve some of the ammunition availablity and cost concerns RNG and COR have, without crashing the ammunition market. At the same time it will provide utility to an otherwise forgotten and useless ability.

    It should be designed as a way to supplement your ammo needs, whilst occasionally giving you a booby prize and occasionally giving you awesome ammo that surpases that which can be bought.
