Elivira vs. Elrica?

Not sure if this is a localization error or not, but the NPC in the final cutscene for the Relic Gun (Annihilator) is named "Elrica" when it's supposed to be Elivira Gogol.

NPCs have the same names in all versions, so if it's an error, it's not one of localization, or it's an error in the text where you see the NPC's full name.

Sounds like an error in the cutscene event settings. We'll look into it with the devs and get it fixed ASAP.

If you look on Gamer Escape or FFXIclopedia under the respective weapons' page, at the bottom will be a spoiler section that will reveal the NPC names. Unfortunately, not all of the relic weapons fore-bearers exist in game.

Also bump for this issue. Not fixed as of late. I'm a huge Elivira fan so this irks me to no end! xD

We had a discussion with the dev team member in charge of this story, who revealed to us that the NPCs name is as intended.

While Elrica may have some connection to Elivira (blood relative? comrade-in-arms?) they are not the same person.

What is Elrica's true identity? What chain of events brought the Annihilator into her possession? And what fate befell Elivira Gogol, that she would entrust her prized weapon to another?

This is one of many tales that remains shrouded in history...

Elvira Gogol is still alive according to the "Great Figures of the Crystal War" article.

But yeah, more story would always be appreciated.
