    FFXI will always change!

Somethings within FFXI just don't feel complete, and most things will never because after all mostly no game that's M.M.O.R.P.G. is none the less. On a lighter note Things that I through of that might make our stay within FFXI abit easy.

Ok lets start off with the Artisan Moogle, You only get a warp scroll, Thanks! How about a Retrace scroll or maybe a Reraise scroll.

Ibwam, Amutiyaal, Alib-Mufalib, Ajithaam, <NPC warp> that warps you to Aht Urhgan Whitegate, 300gil? come on we did the quest. How about a pop up box with yes, no. or just give those NPC's a break and install a portal.

Dominion Ops can't all text be in one line, like do we really have to click, click 3 to 6 times to start an Op, Can we make it so that the op can repeat it self where we don't have to keep running back to NPC. Also would it be possible to transfer seals from Ops to the Treasure if I don't want nor can't use maybe someone in party could.

Cruor seems to have turned into another main currency within FFXI could we make it that we don't have to be in a main city or in abyssea to find out our total or adding it to the /heal would be nice.

Porter Moogles, I understand and all for more space but can't slips be into KIs "keyitems" the old NPC storage doesn't give out slips.

No major objections, except for dear god please don't add it to the /heal line. There is already WAY too much crap there.

No objections either but also no support. That seems like all nitpicking.

Porter Slips can't be key items because they utilize bitmaps to symbolize what gear you do and don't have. Your Storage Slip 10 is completely different from my Storage Slip 10. Key Items can only exist or not exist, they don't store item-specific data.

Example of how Porter Slips work:
All of the items in Storage Slip 10 are numbered from 0-100. Ravager's Head+2 may be #0, Ravager's Body+2 would be #1, etc etc down the line. These numbers are the same for all Storage Slip 10s. When the moogle originally gives you your Storage Slip 10, its item storage bitmap looks like this:

    0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

100 0's, signifying that nothing is being stored in it. Now, say you trade all 5 Ravager's +2 pieces with your storage slip. Assuming that the Ravager's set is numbers 0-4, then your Storage Slip 10's bitmap changes to:

    1111100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Assume then that the full Lancer's +2 set is numbers 29-34. Trading those in with your Storage Slip 10 changes the bitmap value to:

    1111100000000000000000000000001111100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

Now, suppose you trade your Storage Slip 10 to the Porter Moogle. The Porter Moogle looks at the bitmap of your Storage Slip and allows you to obtain any piece of armor whose bit value is set to "1" on the Slip. In this case, he'd offer you full Ravager's +2 and full Lancer's +2. Now, say you remove Lancer's Head+2, Ravager's Feet +2, and Lancer's Body +2. Your bitmap would change to the following:

    1111000000000000000000000000000011100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000

And you would have your 3 pieces of Af3+2 out.

Does this make sense? Porter Slips are items because they need this bitmap value in order to function. Key Items can't hold values. They're just there.

Edit: This is also how they were able to give people full Porter Slips on the test server. They just issued porter slips whose values were all set to 1's.

edit: It just only can store full sets, having them work in KIs its seems.
Okay, I'll try and make it a bit simpler.

In layman's terms, Key Items are "All or Nothing", while Items can be "Customized". Is that better?

And it adds to the thread in that one of your grievances is not, in fact, "incomplete", but simply impossible to fix. You can either use items to store individual items, or Key Items to store sets. You can't have Key Items that store individual items.

Considering nothing is stopping you from just, you know, using the Armor Storage NPCs when you want to store sets, I don't see what the problem is. Frankly, Porter Moogles are a better system overall. If your only grievance is that they aren't Key Items, I'm just telling you why it is that they work the way they do.

    1) The first sentence makes absolutely zero sense.
    2) You don't seem to really understand what the word "Troll" means
    3) I'm simply pointing out that we were already given a choice in terms of how to store our items. People overwhelmingly chose Porter Moogles, because they are significantly better for just about everyone.

I'm simply explaining why the old system didn't give slips, why the new system does, and why we're still better off for it. That is absolutely not trolling. You, on the other hand, appear to be trolling me very hard =/

Huh? I never even played on the Test Server. I tell you why something works the way that it does and you turn around and say "Shut up, no one asked you. Troll."?

Yes. This topic is going places.

If you want to request that the old Armor Storage NPCs be given Empyrean functionality, that's one thing. I think that's a fairly time-consuming request, but I'm sure it can be done assuming they don't run into more "Oh god we have too many Key Items" glitches that breaks the Auto-Translate or something else. Do I personally think it's worth the development time? Not really. But that's essentially what you'd have to ask for.

You think your idea can work is just because you really don't understand how the porter system works, nor try to learn.
If you ever tried to design a data structure, you know what we are saying: One porter slip can hold data in a number of hundreds... maybe thousands times of one keyitem can hold, that means SE need to design a same amount of keyitems (as the amount of equipment types accaptable by the porter system) in order to implement the storage system without using current storage slip.
That's also the reason when the armor storage system first implemented it can only accept a full set in one transaction.
The system can work that way because it doesn't need to change any existing architecture.

In one line: Turning the slips into keyitems is TECHNICALLY IMPOSSIBLE without entirely redesign the keyitem architecture, unless you want a keyitem for each single one piece of your equipments.
The idea is good for a player, but it might never be implemented due to tech limit.
