Atonement Nerf: Question for the Devs.

I know this probably won't even get looked at and will just get ignored like most things.

But I would like to seriously know why Atonement was nerfed when Abyssea was released, and has remained so even towards the end of Abyssea.

750 damage is not anything special in the very least when you have Warriors and Monks doing 5-10k with Victory Smite and Ukko's Fury. Only being able to do 375 Damage at max with a "Mythic" level Weaponskill is pretty pathetic. At 75 this weaponskill is what made PLD shine and could continue to do so for non Empyrean Paladin's outside of Abyssea. It would definatley give an Excal PLD more of an Edge, and be nice for Paladin's who have actually taken the time to finish Burtgang for that 15% boost.

I was honestly surprised to see nobody had brought it up sooner, and hopefully the Devs can reconsider what they have done to this once amazing Weaponskill.

I am not really complaigning for myself (I have an Almace), but more for other Paladin's as it would definatley benefit them to have this weaponskill fixed for content outside such as Voidwatch. (Does SE even realize Atonement is gimped for Voidwatch?)

Would be nice to see other people speak out for ungimping Atonement.

I could agree with this. Atonement was good fun.

Not just Atonement either, all the Mythic weapon skills could use a boost, especially considering the effort to get them.

The best weaponskill in the game is still a Mythic WS. Some jobs derive their single most powerful WS (or second, behind Empyrean in other cases) from Mythic as well. I think a global boost to these WS would be just a tad broken, when looking at the overall picture. And really, the effort to obtain them is fairly minimal assuming you have a Runic Key (even less than WSNMs in that case).

With that said, I did like Atonement and it would be nice if it saw some utility again. I simply do not look forward to making a OA2-4 sword, the trials are sickening. The existence of such may have been what prompted the Atonement nerf itself, actually. Can you imagine what would happen if the OA2-4 path became OA2-8 by 99, with Atonement? Wowzers.

Correction, not all need a boost, just many.

I was referring to certain weapon skills that don't scale up as well as they could, which is a disappointment because on certain jobs, the mythic weapon skills can change your play style to an extent. With increased levels, certain weapon skills are less impressive, which shouldn't be the case for mythic weapon skills (I'm not saying they should be the only weapon skills used however).

Huh was Atonement nerfed outside abyssea also? Like is it perma sub-400 damage now? Haven't used it in a long time, but it was always seen as a reliable guaranteed damage / hate spike on high def NMs.

Ugh makes me sick to think any ws would do less than ~ 800 dmg outside abyssea. It is a reward and special ability for having 100 tp. So it should feel rewarding

Ohh I can think of quite a few high defense NM mobs that would be having you Vorpal for less then 800, CDC obviously stands a good chance at being higher though. Unfortunitly SE tends to give those NM's -MDT also, which lowers Atonement damage. SE needs to make Atonement bypass all damage checks, resistances or modifications. Just pure direct damage.

It's gimped for Voidwatch yea makes it rather annoying, why they gimped it in the first place is fucking mindblowing considering how much damage you can do inside abyssea with other weaponskill.

I was just speaking in general. I mean even a rdm or brd should get to feel a little excitement when they ws. He'll a whm should get to do some nice DMg with a 6 hit attack. All ws should greatly cater to the job using it (stat enhancements) and feel really rewarding. Don't even get me on 2hr's wtf
