What would make me come back long term?
1.) reboot all old content to 99+ (Sky, Campaign, Besieged, Sea, etc. etc.)
a.)Create an NPC that gives the best rewards in the game. (THE BEST)...

well what if Campaign Battles were level synced and and tweaked to accommodate there for lower levels and high levels could play together for awesome level 99...

Well we have gone back in time....so why couldn't we go into the future? 100+ years?

Be nice if steal stole 3-5 of the stolen items instead of just one.
be nice if you got at least temp items from steal.
Maybe even special temp items that you can only get from stealing.

The thing i "used" to speak very fondly of FFXi in the past to ppl who never played was the fact that when 75 was the level cap...all end game content from all expansions were relevant unlike other...
I was struggling with this issue as well when I created my new character. Adding armor to sparks would probably ease a lot of confusion. But I was using conquest points to purchase from my home...
Think Magic Attack Bonus or Magic Burst Bonus are the only things left from your list Karbuncle that Blu could benefit from.

Sounds like the classic FF Freelancer job which after maxing out all jobs...was the most uber job class. A less OP version tho could be fun.

Howdy all.
After enjoying another of SquareEnix's game's Bravely Default it made me think that FFXI could have fun with the slot system Bravely Default had. Where each character had up to 5 Slots...
I agree that the sub job system right now just creates an illusion of choices due to there really only being 1 or 2 realistic choices for anything considered "challenging"
